Identity

The colors had been chosen beforehand by Tico, the founder of the project. As the name of the project is The Golden Shadow, choosing black and gold as the main colors was natural and pretty obvious. Aside from the existing colors and logo, every other element of the visual identity needed to be established. After graphic research and brainstorming sessions with Tico, we decided to go for a simple identity but with a slight twist, immersive but accessible. The user should dive into the heart of the jungle while discovering the universe of Tico's Wild Studio. From this approach came the subtle jaguar pattern applied in the background, an animated jungle to dress up the home page and the use of videos shot in the middle of the jungle.

Two fonts are used within the website : Gastromond for titles, to give an artistic, elegant and funky look, and Mohave for body text.

Wireframing & conception

In terms of architecture and navigation, the goal was to make the information easily understandable. In order for the site to be easily used by the client, several elements can be added and edited using a CMS (detected jaguars, exhibits). The site also has an e-commerce section where photographic prints are on sale. Finally, to make the experience pleasant and the website truly immersive, I added several animations and micro-interactions throughout the pages.

About the project

Tico's Wild Studio is an artistic, scientific and social project based in Costa Rica. Through photography and by choosing the jaguar as an ambassador, Tico Haroutiounian seeks to raise awareness around the world and works for the conservation of the primary forests of Central America.

Social networks being the project’s main communication channel, the goal was to build a website where all the informations would be available, where visitors could keep up to date with planned events and where they could support the project by sponsoring camera traps that will be installed in the jungle!
